Who are we?

When we say 'we', we mean C&T Ink Limited, who is the 'data controller' for the information in this overview.  This means we are responsible for how we use your information.

What information do we collect?

We only collect information about you directly from you when you ask us to provide you with a product or service, submit questions, comments or request information from us.  This may include your name and address, contact telephone number, email address and details of your printer and/or cartridges and the items you have ordered from us in the past.  In the case of our credit account customers, at the time you applied for the credit account, we will also have collected company details such as company registration number, VAT number and bank details in order to arrange a credit check and to set an appropriate account limit.  This means that processing your information is necessary for our legitimate interests in providing you with that product or service.

We will only collect your information in line with relevant regulations and laws and this may relate to any of our products or services you utilise.

How will we use your information?

We will use your information only where we're allowed to be law, eg for the purposes of ordering and arranging delivery of items you have asked us to order for you.  We may also send you information from time to time about our products or services we believe may be of interest to you.

Who can we share your information with?

We may need to share your name, address and contact number with a third party if we are arranging for orders to be sent to you, either by Royal Mail or direct from one of our suppliers, via a courier company. 

We may also need to share your information with authorities if there is a legal requirement for us to meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable government request, however unlikely this may be.

We will not pass on your contact details to any third-party companies for marketing purposes.

How long will we keep your information?

We will keep your information for as long as you have a relationship with us or until you ask us to delete it.  If you make a card payment through our stores, either in person or on the phone, we do not keep an electronic copy of your card details.  Any paper card receipt is kept securely for the legally-defined length of time business are required to keep records - 6 years.  After this time, they are destroyed.

Our website safeguards information according to established security standards and procedures, such as using SSL protection for online orders.  Our website payments are handled by PayPal and when you proceed to Checkout the link will take you to the PayPal website.  This means that we do not have access to or keep any of your payment details.  This privacy policy only applies to the Ink Planet website so when you click on a link to any other websites, you should read their own privacy policies.  PayPal's Privacy Policy can be accessed by clicking here

What are your rights and responsibilities?

You have a number of rights relating to your information:

  • You have the right to be informed about how we handle and store your information
  • You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you at any time
  • You have the right to ask us to update your details at any time
  • You have the right to ask us to delete this information at any time
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office here

You are responsible for making sure you give us accurate and up-to-date information.  You should also take every precaution to protect your personal information while you are using the Internet, including changing your passwords on a regular basis and ensuring you use a secure browser.
